Meet Lisa Jo.
Lisa Jo Barr is a prolific writer and follower of Christ. Her articles, columns, blogs and OP-EDs have been published in newspapers and magazines worldwide, and has been featured in Chicken Soup for the Recovering Soul, Daily Inspirations. Her addiction memoir, with prayers weaved throughout, is called The Pit of Despair-How God, Prayer and the 12 Steps Saved My Life from Addiction.
Lisa Jo has a PhD in the school of Hard Knox. Not only has she survived childhood violence, countless traumas and life-threatening addictions to sex and cocaine, but has also learned how to manage the severe mental conditions of Bipolar I and Complex PTSD.
Lisa Jo is a Maxwell Leadership Team Member speaker, coach and trainer. She had a 14-year career doing customer service as an International Service Director in Reservations for United Airlines. She has been working as an Adult Outpatient Peer Specialist for a community mental health center since 2018.
One of the brightest beacons in Lisa's life has been a strong determination to know herself, no matter what it takes, along with a knowing that she can deeply inspire -- that her experiences can help others realize they are not alone; that there are always bright possibilities for the future. Lisa loves swimming laps, making art, international travel and listening to music.
She lives in Denver, Colorado.
